Melissa Martin is a marketing professor at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, and a winner of GMU's University Teaching Excellence Award. She received a Ph.D. in Marketing from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MBA from University of Pittsburgh. Before entering academia, she spent twenty years in information technology (the time divided between Hewlett-Packard's sales, marketing, and consulting organizations, and her own consulting business). In addition to teaching, she consults with small businesses on integrating the internet into their marketing plans.
Dr. Martin loves music and is an award-winning a cappella singer. For the past several years, she has been writing (and posting online) a novel set in the world of music.
